Participants Stories
Rooftops Canada is proud of the work our partners are doing through the Women Space’s Project. We believe in the importance of implementing a project that puts participants at the forefront.
That’s why we are sharing their stories and how the Women Spaces Project has provided them with new opportunities and skills.
Story of Change: Velima Kanguha
Velima Kanguha is a young woman and chairperson of her farming group in Starehe, Nairobi. As a group, they grow kale and spinach for vulnerable people within their community. Before she took part in the Women’s Spaces Project (WSP), this was the only farming activity she participated in.
Story of Change: Susan Mugure
Susan attended the Gender, Urban Agriculture and Food System training, held by Rooftops Kenyan partner, Mazingira Institute.
By sharing new farming skills, Susan and the rest of her farming group and community benefits from urban agriculture technologies and produce vegetables that are organic and healthy.
