Rooftops Canada International Service Award 2023:

 Mario De Giovanni Housing Co-operative

This year, we have recognized Mario De Giovanni Housing Co-operative as the recipient of the Rooftops Canada International Service Award. Rooftops Canada – Abri International is the international development arm of Canada’s co-operative housing and community housing sector. The award is to recognize the important contribution of the housing co-operative movement in Canada to international development by recognizing and thanking CHF Canada members that have actively and consistently supported the work of Rooftops Canada.

Many residents of Mario De Giovanni Housing Cooperative in Ottawa, Ontario are immigrants and have a direct knowledge of housing difficulties in other countries. Members embody the 6th co-op principle, co-operation among co-ops, and extended this principle internationally for over 23 years by generously contributing to co-op and social housing in Africa through Rooftops Canada. Congratulations Mario De Giovanni Housing Cooperative and thank you for all that you do to support co-ops internationally.
